Hampi occupies 27 km2 and take several hours to get through and understand. We spent 8 hours here with excellent guides. Starting at 05.00 one day for sunrise and two hours after sunset the first day. I also bought two books for my understanding. Next year I will come back for more. One week is enough for my planning.
A payed guide during some days is the best. Talk to the guide before hiring, so that you know you understand what they tell you. A map is also needed. Cheap books with maps for around 100 rs are available.
The four big markets were the most important part in the power and richness of the royal family. Merchants from West and East came for trade.
